Try to understand what it´s like to be in your students´ shoes from the very beginning, try to remember what it was like to be a student, go back to that point and meet them there, don't think “you have to reach me” you have to go to where they are, because you´ve been there and you know what it´s like. If you show your empathy and your understanding they will respond. Walk the road with them. Meet them at the beginning and walk with them.
