Borgnia talks about the goings-on at the concert |

Well,…
I think that the most amazing thing about U2's concert ,…
I mean…, what moved me the most, was the vastness
of the stadium and how big and small I felt at different
times of the performance. I felt very big because of the
intimate connection that was established between every person
that went there and the singer, … everybody felt in
close communication with Bono. And then I felt really small
while looking around and seeing thousands and thousands
of people, among whom were most of my friends,… I
guess that really impressed me a lot and made me experience
these different feelings at different times of the recital.
Bono's performance was outstanding,… his dancing…
and the torch he lit. The response of the audience was really
strong. I was moved by the passion we all displayed, we
were all dancing and singing at the top of our voices and
I was doing crazy things that I had never imagined. It was
a poignant moment, it was really spectacular: the lights,
the screens and the noise that shattered your ears that
was really fascinating. Everything that was shown was first
quality. Edge was a big star on stage,…his voice…his
guitar rhythms… due to him is how U2 sounds the way
it does. It was also really moving to be able to listen
to Bono's lyrics at the same time that he was singing and
to share that with so many people who professed the same
cult.
I also enjoyed the lyrics very much. It was astonishing
how the lyrics caught the audience. U2's lyrics are so beautifully
and strategically written! The effect they achieve is really
huge. I never know if the effect they have on the audience
is the one the writer intends to have. When Bono is interviewed,
he never reveals what moves him to write those lyrics. But
they are really crazy in that they sometimes lead one way
and end up reaching some other zones of meaning, and that's
really interesting. I never know if I've ever understood
what the writer has intended me to, but definitely the exercise
of trying to understand his point has been enriching and
a bit intriguing. It's a kind of magic that moves you to
dig deeper into the lyrics and to try to connect them with
history, with social and international issues,… and
that's really enlightening.
